Volunteerism is Alive in the Library!
Volunteers are always needed at the library for reshelving materials, processing books, reading for Story Time and Crafts, and manning the circulation desk! No previous training necessary. Contact the library for more information. Pictured here is our youngest volunteer! He's always willing to do very important tasks like stamping book pockets!
Successful Adult Egg Hunt!
There was an enthusiastic group of about 15 adult egg hunters today! The winners were Chris and Sarah Grenoble, a mother daughter team! Marshall Fischer came in second place! Paper eggs were hidden in magazines, the card catalog, in the local business section, in paperbacks, large print books, music books, videos, fiction and non-fiction. Hunters were given clues, and in some cases, computer research was necessary. It was a fun way to learn more about how much the library has to offer and how to do research to find materials currently in the library.
Poetry Slam March 13th!
The West Stockbridge Public Library hosted it's first Poety Slam on March 13th! The emcee, Vanessa Vargas, was wonderful and really had everyone participating. There were three winners who are all eligible to go on to the Regional Competition in May. Hilary Russell, from Sheffield, came in first place, Karel Fisher, from Richmond, was second, and the super brave local youngster, Juri Kiin of West Stockbridge, stole third. Prizes were donated by Hotchkiss Mobiles, Molly Bruce Jacobs, Hoffman Pottery, West Stockbridge Video, and the Bookloft. The WS Friends of the Library and Cultural Council also helped sponsored the event. A big THANKS to everyone that helped pull this together!
