October Fun

They say time flies when you are having fun, and it’s true. From meeting the many different groups that use the library. From the Knitting Group, to the Scrap Book Group, the Book Club, and meeting everyone else, it has been a fun filled busy three weeks. Things are changing here at the library along with the leaves on the trees. Paula has decorated the library with a wonderful fall / Halloween theme and my many thanks to her for undertaking that task. The library is now ready to face the new season.

I lived in Salem, MA for four years, the Halloween capital, as I call it. Where Halloween is more than just one day out of the year, it’s a whole month worth of celebration of all things spooky and mystical. To help your family to get into that Halloween sprit (maybe just a little early) we have display of books for children and young adults, which contain monsters, magic and scary stories as their main themes.

If books are not what you are looking for, you are in luck, on Oct 4th at 1pm the library is hosting Mary Jo Maichak an award winning storyteller. She has stories that will sure to bring out your Halloween sprit. Please keep in mind that this program does contain some scary stories that might not be appropriate for children under the age of 5.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who has welcomed me into the community; it has been great to meet you all.

New to the collection

I know that I’m not ready to admit that summer is fast coming to an end, and I’m guessing that many of you are not ready as well. As the nights grow cooler, the best way to fight the chill is to curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book. Well I’m happy to announce that the library has eight new books to choose from.

New to the Children Section we have ‘The Graves Family Goes Camping’ by Patricia Polacco. When the Graves family and their collection creepy pets go camping at the lake and meet a fire breathing dragon. The question becomes, can they make it though the weekend? This is a great book to read with Halloween coming up.

We also have Eric Hunter latest book in the Warrior: Power of Three series ‘Eclipse’ in. You’ll have to wait for this book because it’s already out. (If you would like to check it out, please give me a call and I’ll place you on the wait list.)

Just in to the Adult Collection we have six new books:

Lastly, the library also has added to its audio book collection. Stop by and take a look at our growing audio book collection. Audio books are a great way to listen to a story when you have your hands otherwise occupied. Remember the door is always open, hope to see you soon.
